Becky Hoag

I grew up in the Bay Area during the drought, which encouraged me to move to Oregon for the rain (and college). Now I switch between living in Monterey, where I first fell in love with the ocean (starting with jellyfish), and South Bay Area. I'm letting nature take me to where it needs its stories told. It's fed and clothed me, now it's time for me to give back.

I find my role more important than ever now as the climate crisis worsens. I want people to learn that science is extremely interesting, environmentally conscious living is essential, and journalism (particularly solutions-based) is powerful. I hope to inspire people to think critically and act passionately through my work.

I am continuously exploring the best ways to engage people in scientific and environmental conversations. I specialize in writing, but I have enjoyed exploring different mediums like audio, video, and social media.
